Danny, Chad, and I woke up at 4:00 AM in order to make the fire tower on top of Mt. Sterling before sunrise. We set out with head lamps under a bright moon, summited, and climbed up the fire tower just minutes before light flooded the tiny structure. Then we built a fire, unpacked the cast iron skillet, and made fried egg and avocado sandwiches on toasted rosemary sourdough. Not bad for 6,000 feet!
